How to Become a Coach

Becoming a coach is a relatively quick and simple  three step process:
If you registered to be a coach for the Fall 2021 and have a submitted your background AND Safe Sport certification, we do still appreciate it if you register for the program, but you will not have to redo your background our SafeSport certification.

1) Fall 2021 / Spring 2022 Coaches Registration
2) Background Check ( or stay in your gotsport account from step 1)
2a) In the upper right, click on the profile icon and select Profile from the menu
2b) Click on Dashboard after you have logged into your account
2c) You should see both the SafeSport and Background Checks and their status.  Click on More Info on the background check and then click on the Submit New Report button to Submit your background check.
2d) Note, you can also go ahead and do your SafeSport certification from the Dashboard page rather than clicking the link below.
3) Complete you SafeSport Certification / Re-certification training (Link is in your coaches account)
Be sure to register with the same email address, First Name, and Last Name as what is on your coaches account or they will not link properly!  Follow the instructions in this SafeSport document to complete registration and go through the correct courses.

4) Coaching License Clinic (optional)

Please note, you will not be allowed to coach unless you have an approved background check and SafeSport Certification.

Registraton and Background Checks are both quickly done online.  SafeSport is a series of videos and then a quiz at the end to verify that you understand the material.  If you have already gone through the certification process, you will just need to go through the refresher video and quick quiz.  SafeSport is required by North Texas Soccer in order to be a coach.  Coaching license clinics are offered prior to each season and are completed in a few short informative hours. Once you have registered as a coach you can then log back into your newly created coaches account and complete the background check found under the background check tab.

    I have never coached!

If you have never coached before and are nervous or worried about what might await you at your first practice, then relax, take a few deep breaths, and remember that every coach who has ever coached was also in the same position you now find yourself. PASO has many experienced coaches who are available to answer questions, impart the wisdom of lessons learned, and even help you coach your first few practices. New coaches, please contact your respective commisioner (contact info on the Board of Directors page) if you would like help getting started. We are here to help you in any way we can.
