Spring Season Cancelled

Hello PASO Family,

 

The PASO board met last night to discuss the viability of continuing to extend the Spring 2020 season. It is with a heavy heart that we have decided that the best course of action is to cancel the remainder of the Spring season. In our last league-wide email we outlined three scenarios which could take place during May and June. Most indications point toward a variation of Scenario B, an incremental relaxing of social distancing restrictions in early June with restrictions on large social gatherings remaining in place (parks and playgrounds will reopen but large congregations of people will remain taboo). Considering this, the board have decided to cancel the remainder of the season and issue partial refunds of registration fees.

 

When we first mentioned the possibility of cancellation and possible refunds in the end of March league wide email the majority of the response we received was comprised of two questions; a) why a partial refund and not a full refund, b) can I instead donate my refund. The answers to both questions are as follows:

 

  1. We can only issue partial refunds because there are expenses that have already been paid out which are non-recoverable. These include: player insurance which is due in full for each registered player regardless if they participated in one practice or played a full season, USYSA fees due for each registered player, NTSSA fees due for each registered player, credit card and bank transaction fees, gotsoccer fees for each active player account, referee & field marshal fees for games already played, PISD facility rentals from Jan/Feb/Mar. What can be refunded are fees not yet paid or those which are recoverable, such as: referee fees for games not played, facility rental fees for Mar/Apr/May, and field use fees which the Town of Prosper will be returning. The non-recoverable portion of each players registration fees amount to $30, the balance is either currently available or can be recovered and will be refunded.

 

  1. Yes, if you wish to donate your registration fee refund you may do so. As PASO is a non-profit 501c(3) organization your donation is tax deductible and we will provide a receipt for your records. Donated funds will be applied toward registration hardship scholarships. As a league we experienced our greatest need for registration assistance seven years ago following the real-estate crash of 2013 which affected the economy. We anticipate similar or even greater need in the coming seasons as the US economy works through its recovery process.

 

Below you will find a link which will take you to the Spring 2020 Refund page. You may either login with your player account user/pwd or you can use the "Easy Register" option. Once logged in you will be presented with the option to either receive your refund or to donate your refund to the hardship fund. We will both process refunds and issue donation receipts as quickly as we can as both options require manual processing by board members.

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these difficult and unprecedented times. We do not yet know exactly how this covid-19 situation will affect future seasons or for how long it will continue to do so, but we are certain that in time it shall pass and we will be able to resume our recreational activities in full and eagerly look forward to that time.
